About RiseBoro Community Partnership
RiseBoro Community Partnership is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served Brooklyn and beyond for over 50 years. Their mission: ensuring that your zip code does not determine your health outcomes, housing stability, or economic power.
The organization operates across six interconnected divisions: Housing, Education, Seniors, Health, Empowerment, and Community. Together, these divisions run more than 30 programs serving seniors, youth, families experiencing homelessness, tenants, and students across New York City. Their housing portfolio includes major affordable developments, including participation in a $500 million Hunters Point project with 1,100 apartments.
Managing operations of this scope requires systems that work across organizational boundaries, and teams that know how to use them.
The Challenge
RiseBoro's multi-division structure created a unique challenge: each division had distinct operational needs, but all shared the same Yardi platform. The organization needed to roll out Yardi's procurement and purchasing functionality across divisions with very different workflows, from Education to Seniors services.
Beyond configuration, there was a deeper need. RiseBoro wanted their internal teams to truly own the system, not just use it. External consultants could configure workflows, but long-term success meant building expertise within the organization itself.
The affordable housing portfolio added another layer of complexity. New York's regulatory environment, including DHCR compliance and rent stabilization rules, required specialized knowledge and custom solutions that generic implementations couldn't provide.
The BC Solutions Approach
Over a 2.5-year partnership, BC Solutions worked alongside RiseBoro to implement Yardi functionality across multiple divisions while building internal capability. The engagement prioritized hands-on training alongside technical implementation.
Purchasing Training: Education Division
More than 110 hours dedicated to training the Education division on Yardi purchasing workflows. Sessions covered requisition creation, approval routing, PO management, and reporting, with emphasis on hands-on practice in RiseBoro's actual environment.
Purchasing Training: Seniors Division
A separate rollout for the Seniors division, recognizing their distinct operational patterns. Training and go-live support ensured staff could confidently manage procurement independently.
Elevate P2P Configuration
Implementation of Yardi's Elevate Procure-to-Pay module, configured to match RiseBoro's approval hierarchies and budget controls across divisions.
AP Workflow Automation
Accounts payable workflow design and implementation, streamlining invoice processing and approval routing across the organization.

Why It Matters
The RiseBoro engagement demonstrates BC Solutions' training-focused approach to implementation. Several aspects make this partnership noteworthy:
Training as a core deliverable, not an afterthought.
Over 18% of the total engagement hours were dedicated to formal training. This wasn't checkbox training at the end of a project; it was integrated throughout, ensuring staff could apply what they learned immediately.
Division-specific implementation.
Rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach, BC Solutions worked with each division to understand their workflows and configure the system to match. The Education and Seniors divisions each received tailored implementations.
Long-term partnership mindset.
A 2.5-year engagement allows for iterative improvement. As RiseBoro's needs evolved, whether new affordable properties, additional compliance requirements, or expanded functionality, the partnership adapted.
Nonprofit-appropriate support.
Understanding that nonprofits operate differently than commercial property managers, BC Solutions provided flexible support that respected RiseBoro's mission-driven focus and resource constraints.
